Editorial Policies

Editorial Independence

MINDSET is published by Orkun Erkayıran, who also serves as Editor-in-Chief. Editorial decisions are made solely on scientific merit and are not influenced by the personal or financial interests of the publisher.

Manuscripts authored or co-authored by the Editor-in-Chief, by members of the editorial board, or by anyone with a competing interest in the outcome are handled by an independent editor who has no connection with the authors or their institutions. In such cases the Editor-in-Chief has no access to the submission record, the identity of the reviewers, or the decision correspondence.

Citation Practices

MINDSET does not ask authors to cite articles published in the journal, and publication is never conditional on such citations. Reviewers may not request citations to their own work as a condition of a favourable recommendation.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

MINDSET follows the COPE Retraction Guidelines. Published articles form a permanent record and are not removed from the website except where required by law.

  • Correction: published when an error affects the interpretation of the work but does not invalidate its findings. The correction is linked to the original article.
  • Retraction: published when the findings are unreliable, whether through honest error or misconduct. The retracted article remains accessible, is marked as retracted on every page, and the notice states the reason and who requested the retraction.
  • Expression of Concern: published while a concern is under investigation and a conclusion has not yet been reached.

Requests for corrections or retractions should be sent to ethics@mindsetjournal.org.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal an editorial decision once, in writing to ethics@mindsetjournal.org, within thirty days of the decision. The appeal must state the grounds and respond to the comments of the reviewers point by point.

Appeals are assessed by an editor who was not involved in the original decision and, where necessary, by an additional reviewer. Authors are informed of the outcome within thirty days.

Complaints about editorial conduct, process, or publication ethics follow the same route. A complainant who is not satisfied with the outcome may refer the matter to COPE.

Preprints

MINDSET considers manuscripts that have been posted on a recognised preprint server. Authors must disclose the preprint and its DOI at submission. On acceptance, authors are asked to update the preprint record with the citation and DOI of the published article.
